Luxury apartments in Plymouth’s Sutton Harbour underway

On March 1, 2022, the construction of Sutton Harbour’s newest residential waterfront accommodation development was officially launched.

Councillor Nick Kelly, then Leader of Plymouth City Council, was invited to join Executive Chairman of Sutton Harbour Group, Philip Beinhaker, in a small opening ceremony to mark the start of work on the newest flats for sale in Plymouth.

Cllr Kelly said: “I am very passionate about our incredible waterfront and so am thrilled to see this scheme get underway.

“The site alone will provide plenty of job opportunities in construction – which is great for local families – and once finished will be a fantastic addition to the harbourside.”

Work is now well underway on the 14 new luxury apartments being created in Sutton Harbour. Harbour Arch Quay will be made up of two and three-bed apartments, and Plymouth’s new build complex will also house two penthouses with stunning panoramic views of the marina and Plymouth Sound out towards the ocean.

As well as residential spaces, the development will also have a commercial unit offering a great retail or dining space for both residents and visitors to Sutton Harbour.

Harbour Arch Quay is a key part of the regeneration of Plymouth’s waterfront alongside plans for Sugar Quay, a £60 million 21-storey landmark building also being developed by Sutton Harbour Group on the eastern side of the harbour.

While many new builds in Plymouth may feature architecture which can blend in with the rest of the city, the Harbour Arch Quay apartments offer a fresh and ultra-modern design as well as being in keeping with adjacent developments at Pinnacle Quay and Salt Quay House. In order to enhance the unique qualities of the new apartments for sale in Plymouth’s Sutton Harbour, only the highest quality materials and finishes are being used for the project.

The long-overlooked eastern side of the city’s waterfront is overdue for a refresh to complement the western side of the harbour where the historic Barbican quarter lies, and these projects will be transformative for the area, enticing more people into the area and making the harbourside as a whole much more accessible and welcoming.

At the launch ceremony, Philip Beinhaker, Executive Chairman of Sutton Harbour Group, said: “We are delighted to see work start on Harbour Arch Quay, which will offer new, high quality waterside homes in Plymouth, and continue our work to regenerate Sutton Harbour and establish Plymouth’s historic harbour as one of the finest in the UK.

“We thank Cllr Kelly for joining us to mark this occasion, and look forward to future development around Sutton Harbour further enlivening the city’s waterfront for the benefit of all who live, work and visit here.”

Councillor Nick Kelly agreed, saying “This is a huge investment in our city and will help make our waterfront even more vibrant and attractive.”

Since work on the project began, progress has been fast. With the foundations laid, the base was put down to install a tower crane. And with the crane base installed and at the ready, Sutton Harbour Group are currently projecting to be one week ahead of schedule on the build.

These apartments in Plymouth will certainly be a welcome addition to the harbour. In the meantime, expect more project updates to follow.
